The management of The Sun newspapers has named Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State as “the best governor” for the year 2021.
The newspaper‘s general manager, Onuoha Uke, presented the appointment letter to the governor of Bauchi on Saturday.
Uke said the nomination was based on Mohammed’s track record of accomplishments.
He said the governor had had a positive impact on critical sectors of the economy, including education, health, road construction, security, agriculture and youth empowerment programs.
He said the award would be officially presented in Lagos to the Governor on May 7, 2022 in an elaborate ceremony, which would attract the entire management of the newspaper.
In response, Governor Mohammed thanked the newspaper’s management for considering him worthy of being recognized as Governor of the Year by such a credible outlet.
He said he would continue to work hard to justify the trust placed in him by the media, stressing that the award would inspire him to do more in good governance and service delivery.
He described his appointment as a show of patriotism, nationalism and professionalism on the part of the newspaper, adding, “I myself as a journalist will continue to defend the sanctity of the media and the particularities of the profession.”
He said The Sun newspaper regularly covered and reported on the state, especially the developmental advances introduced by his administration.
“I love and cherish this award and will be in Lagos to receive it,” he added.
